Here Comes Another Panda And It’s Stepping on Payday Loans!
Yes it’s official, just in case you were wondering what on earth was happening to your SERPS rankings – On May 20th 2014 Google announced a new Panda 4 update that has caused some concern and jubilation at the same time for webmasters.
Since its birth in Febuary 2011, the Panda has worked tirelessly to get rid of spammy sites with a series of updates since that time to remove weak and duplicate content from its search results. So is this update anything to be feared?
In my opinion – not really. Fundamentally its just another update (albeit a big one) to the already existing algo, to catch some of the sites it missed in its earlier sweep.
Along with this one however comes the payday loans algorithm update, first launched in June 11 2013. This has been updated in order to sort out the spammy queries relating to this industry.
A google spokesman commented
Over the weekend we began rolling out a new algorithmic update. The update was neither Panda nor Penguin — it was the next generation of an algorithm that originally rolled out last summer for very spammy queries.
So is there anything to worry about regarding your SERPS positions – probably, especially if you have a payday loans business! But there again there always will be to some extent or another
Keep the on-page optimisation efforts to a minimum, and build QUALITY backlinks. Thats about as much as you can do.
As with the stock market, the only thing you can rely upon is that serp ratings will go up – and they will go down again – it’s our job to try and keep the ship steady in turbulant seas!Google+
